Come celebrate with us...
March 26-28, 2010

Incorporated January 9, 1835, the City of Talladega formally invites you to a celebration 175 years in the making.  From the Creek Indians encounter with conquistador Hernando de Soto to forty years of racing at the Talladega Superspeedway, Talladega is the center of an area rich in history and tradition that is also poised for progress in the 21st century.
Participate in the Time Capsule Project...

As part of the celebration, a time capsule will be buried on Sunday, March 28th.  Among other items being collected, we are working on a photo archive of Talladega families.  Photos will be scanned electronically and backed up to digital media to be stored in the time capsule, which will be opened on our 200th anniversary.  If you would like more information about how to submit your family photos to this archive,
please click here.

Check out our Guestbook page!  We want to know who all plans to attend and where you are coming from!  After the event, we hope to get feedback on what you thought and whether we should make this a regular event!

Let the celebration begin...
You are cordially invited to join the City of Talladega in a four-day celebration of our founding in 1835.  The weekend starts Thursday evening with a historical production by the Talladega High School Drama Club.  Friday brings more excitement with a Wine and Cheese tasting, classic Dinner Dance featuring a Big Band Combo and a performance by American Idol runner up Bo Bice.  The celebration hits full swing on Saturday as a carnival atmosphere takes over the downtown area.  Festivities include a 5K Run, free live music all day, activities for the kids, BBQ Cookoff, fireworks and two performances by American Idol winner Ruben Studdard.  On Sunday, the celebration will come to a close with the burial of a 25-year Time Capsule and a relaxing day of classic movies at The Historic Ritz Theatre.
